Mission Capabilities

The TACAMO RPAS is a tactical, multi-role strike platform designed for weapons/munitions delivery and ISR missions. Capable of deploying guided and unguided munitions, it is the "Small UAS Gunship" asset for offensive strike missions.

In cooperation with the Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division, the TACAMO RPAS was developed to carry Forward-Firing Rockets and Precision Guided Munitions.

Key Features
  • Strike Capability: Capable of carrying two rocket pods with a total of eight 35mm forward-firing rockets.
  • Precision Engagement: Configured to carry and launch Bandito Precision Guided Loitering Munitions (PGLM).
  • Advanced Avionics: Integrated Weapons Management System Interface (WMSI) for arming, firing, and release.
  • Payload Flexibility: Stores Release Units (SRU) allow for rapid reconfiguration of stores (munitions, jammers, sensors, supply pods).
  • Surveillance: Onboard sensors for ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) and target identification.
Recent Milestones

November 2022: Successful Live Fire Ground Test of 35mm Forward-Firing rockets. Eight rockets successfully fired from wing-mounted Rocket Pods.

August 2022: Successful testing of Weapons Management System Interface (WMSI) for selection, arming, firing, and release of weapons/stores.

Operational Concept

The TACAMO RPAS is configured with two wing stations, each utilizing an SRU. Once airborne, operators use onboard sensors to track and identify both ground and/or air targets. With target confirmation, operators can then command the release of Bandito PGLMs or fire forward-firing rockets to engage and neutralize a target. The capability significantly reduces sensor-to-shooter times for effective target negation.
